TDM #1 - "Welcome to the Digital World"

[ "Welcome Tamers" ]

So, you've answered "yes" to the question asking you if you want to save the world. You've gone through the Digital Gate. You've been greeted by Sunflowmon and Nanomon, and told about Tamer Union and the fact that you're to be partnered to a Digimon. What's next?

As it turns out? Ain't no party like a Digimon party because a Digimon party don't stop, and this Digimon party is the biggest and brightest that's been seen in Access City in quite some time! Finally, the Tamer Union is reborn! All these new Tamers and their brand new Digimon are gathered together here in the hopes of bringing peace to the Digital World once more. And what better way to welcome them with a party?

The streets are lined with streamers and festive blinking bits of circuit boards. Multicolored transistors glow softly, lighting the way for revelers who might not yet have a sense of the layout of the town. But hey, if one wishes to step off the beaten path to explore a little more, they're not going to stop you. They all lead to an open area in Access Park, where the main thrust of the party can be found. There’s music being played all night, which might either be new to you, or might be familiar; Tamer Union’s database has samples from across the multiverse, it turns out!

That’s not all, because all of of Access City is now open to new arrivals, from Omekamon’s Arcade to Club Zeal. What’s that? Oh yes, every single establishment in the city will be open all night. It’s a citywide party, after all. Don’t have any BITS? Every single shop is willing to waive their fees… within reason, that is. No one’s going to let you empty out an entire place of business after all.

It’s not all fun and games, though. This is your chance for you and your Digimon partner to meet and get to know one another. Maybe they zero in on you during the party. Maybe the two of you have already found one another. Either way, a night like this may set a precedent for how the two of you you will get on for the future.

[ "Refreshing Refreshments?" ]

No party would be complete without food and drink, and this one's no exception. Access City has gone all out and brought in the widely renowned digital chef, Ebidramon, the proprietor of Ebidramon's Eatery, a restaurant that can be found deep within nearby Bitrot Swamp. Digimon come from far and wide to sample Ebidramon's cuisine, but today, the cuisine has been brought to you!

Ebidramon's palate is said to have ascended beyond human comprehension, and so some of the available foods might not be to everyone's tastes. There's sausage and jellybean pizza and banana and anchovy sliders. There are potato chips and a mysterious "Digital Dip," which the more adventurous among the new arrivals may be able to discover is a delectable blending of marshmallow fluff and caviar. Cookies of all kinds are available as well, ranging from benign chocolate chip to chocolate sandwich cookies with a variety of fun fillings like espresso and buffalo wing. There are asparagus-clam smoothies and a wide selection of the finest sodas and fruit juices available from all across the island. What’s more, some of the strange fruits from Material Jungle have been brought in—the kinds that might leave you turning purple, coughing up polka dots, or making you really energetic all of a sudden.

There's something for everyone, and you can eat as much as you want! This stuff isn't going to keep as leftovers.

[ Prompt #3 ]
[ "They're Throwing What?!" ]

It's the next day. The party has come and gone, and all that's left of it is stuff to be cleaned up. But hey, that's a job for civil servants right? Though they won't say no to anyone offering to help out.

But before any of that can happen, an incident occurs. Coming up from the city's sewers are the likes of Numemon and Geremon. What are those who usually dwell among the muck and the grime coming out of their hole for? Well, they know there was a party last night, and they're angry over not being invited.

(The whole city was invited. The Numemon and Geremon were simply told not to come if they were going to be a nuisance, and they took that to mean not to come at all.)

Putting aside the inequities of Access City vis a vis the filth dwellers, the Numemon and Geremon are intent on trashing Access Park where the party was held and vandalizing as many places of business as they can. Whether that be by throwing their pink "sludge" everywhere, or by trashing the party equipment and furniture, they're intent on raising a lot of really, really dirty hell.

Those caught up in the chaos must either dodge the so-called "goo" they're flinging or work to stop them. Thankfully, Numemon and Geremon aren't too difficult to deal with, despite their being Adult Levels. Tamer Union didn't intend this to be the first challenge Tamers faced in coming to the Digital World, but it seems fate itself had other ideas.

Not sure. Kinda tired of it.

She's new, though.

[ Petitmon smiles and squirms happily, and there's a trace of softness in his eyes. She knows when she's the center of attention. ]

How about your partner?

[prophesis]

I believe we shall work well together.

Fear not, Ishizu. We have decreed it so.

--Thank you.

[ She probably shouldn't indulge those mannerisms of Kudamon's. They could lead to misunderstandings, and unnecessary conflict.

...Yet, somehow, it's hard to discipline a young being with a high opinion of itself. She looks at Kudamon and her heart clenches in nostalgia. ]

[blue_ice]

If you can think it, you can do it! Right?

[ There's Petitmon translating for her level. Seto smiles fondly at her. ]

That's right. You're going to be a fierce dragon and tear up anyone in our way.

And save people, right?

[ Kaiba shakes his head gently, fond smile on his face. ]

Right. That too.

[prophesis]

[ Ishizu doesn't say anything, not yet. She's too busy eyeing the interaction between Seto and his Digimon, a fond, amused smile playing about her face. It shows more in her eyes than her mouth, really. An expression that speaks a thousand words.

Kudamon looks disturbed by this. Miss, they are rabble....! The dragon is a brute! ]

[blue_ice]

[ Seto reaches for his stash of snacks and feeds Petitmon a berry that he's determined to be safe. She chirps out a 'more please' and he indulges her, still smiling.

He turns back to Ishizu when he's sure Petitmon is secure and comfortable. ]

Did they tell you anything about what training's going to be like?

[prophesis]

[ She shakes her head. ] Nor have they specified the threat. I am unable to foretell the future of this world....

We are fumbling forward together.

[ There's another of those gentle smiles on the word "together". As little as he may like to admit it, this circumstance demands he cooperate.

...with more than just his partner, who seems to have wasted no time ensuring his affections. Seto....Her faith in you, she is certain, is not misplaced. ]

[blue_ice]

I suppose we are.

<[ He's still looking down at Petitmon, snuggling contently in his arms. He feels strangely calm and light with her...

And he eventually looks back up. ]

Petitmon's too young for serious combat yet, but. I'll join you in training once she's ready.

[prophesis]

We require no such thing.

[ Kudamon closes her eyes, as if stating the obvious pains her. Or perhaps it's the sight of Petitmon.... ]

Our powers were peerless on Our own. Now that Miss has joined Us....

Kudamon.

Miss?

You must never take your position for granted. You build your destiny with your own two hands, and that destiny is limitless.

[ She raises a hand, slightly, towards her fellow Duelist. ] Seto taught me this.

[ Kudamon eyes Kaiba, with the snobby equivalent of "sounds fake but ok" written all over her face. ]

[blue_ice]

[ Seto blinks at her. Did she just...

But he recovers and clears his throat. ]

And I won't let you forget it. There's too much that has to be done.

Wow, Seto-kun's really smart, huh?

[ Petitmon flutters her wings excitedly. Yes please tell her her partner is cool. Seto fondly pats her head and looks over at Ishizu and Kudamon. ]

If it's a challenge of strength, we won't give up.

[prophesis]

May you meet all challenges with such vigor.

[ She bends over, the better to address Petitmon. Around her shoulders, Kudamon uncurls, holding herself erect lest the Pleb be contagious.

Petitmon gets the sort of smile Ishizu reserves for people's little siblings. ]

And you will take good care of your partner, will you not?

[blue_ice]

'Course I will! He's my Seto-kun, I'm gonna bite anyone who comes after him!

[ Seto smiles at her. ]

With those little teeth?

I'll bite hard!

[ Seto admires her spirit. He cuddles her close, then looks back up. ]

And your partner? Are you two feeling confident?

i don't want to get out of bed MOBILE TAG AHOY

[prophesis]

Kudamon sniffs. "We suffice." The dryness in her tone suggests intentional understatement.

"Kudamon is a rare sub-species of Digimon," Ishizu explains, which makes Kudamon preen - only to stop when she adds, "But that is not why I have faith."

Heedless of her Digimon's now-stupefied expression, she smiles. "Kudamon is diligent and earnest. She devotes herself to restoring light. With her by my side, I feel secure."

Diligent, earnest Kudamon has to twist so Kaiba can't see her face. Ishizu merely smiles.

[blue_ice]

Those were probably not the words Seto would use to describe Kudamon (he's still slightly offended on Petitmon's behalf), but Ishizu has a tendency to see things that others don't.

"But how do we restore light, is the question..."

He looks down at Petitmon.

"We've just gotta be brave and fight the baddies! I'll chew 'em up real good."

"I'm sure you will," Seto smiles. She's determined to prove what those little fangs can do.

[prophesis]

"The path will show itself," Ishizu advises Seto, and if this is to stave off Kudamon from making a disgusted face at the brutality on display from Petitmon, well, this can be neither proven nor denied. "We must keep open minds, the better to recognize it when it appears."

She steps to the side, but keeps her eyes on him. "Will you join me?"

[blue_ice]

"Sure! Let's learn lots!" is Petitmon's contribution. Seto half-smiles at her, then nods at Ishizu.

"Can't think of much better to do, so. Sure." What a friendly thing to say! But he's not running. A small improvement.
