TDM #1 - "Welcome to the Digital World"

[ "Welcome Tamers" ]

So, you've answered "yes" to the question asking you if you want to save the world. You've gone through the Digital Gate. You've been greeted by Sunflowmon and Nanomon, and told about Tamer Union and the fact that you're to be partnered to a Digimon. What's next?

As it turns out? Ain't no party like a Digimon party because a Digimon party don't stop, and this Digimon party is the biggest and brightest that's been seen in Access City in quite some time! Finally, the Tamer Union is reborn! All these new Tamers and their brand new Digimon are gathered together here in the hopes of bringing peace to the Digital World once more. And what better way to welcome them with a party?

The streets are lined with streamers and festive blinking bits of circuit boards. Multicolored transistors glow softly, lighting the way for revelers who might not yet have a sense of the layout of the town. But hey, if one wishes to step off the beaten path to explore a little more, they're not going to stop you. They all lead to an open area in Access Park, where the main thrust of the party can be found. There’s music being played all night, which might either be new to you, or might be familiar; Tamer Union’s database has samples from across the multiverse, it turns out!

That’s not all, because all of of Access City is now open to new arrivals, from Omekamon’s Arcade to Club Zeal. What’s that? Oh yes, every single establishment in the city will be open all night. It’s a citywide party, after all. Don’t have any BITS? Every single shop is willing to waive their fees… within reason, that is. No one’s going to let you empty out an entire place of business after all.

It’s not all fun and games, though. This is your chance for you and your Digimon partner to meet and get to know one another. Maybe they zero in on you during the party. Maybe the two of you have already found one another. Either way, a night like this may set a precedent for how the two of you you will get on for the future.

[ "Refreshing Refreshments?" ]

No party would be complete without food and drink, and this one's no exception. Access City has gone all out and brought in the widely renowned digital chef, Ebidramon, the proprietor of Ebidramon's Eatery, a restaurant that can be found deep within nearby Bitrot Swamp. Digimon come from far and wide to sample Ebidramon's cuisine, but today, the cuisine has been brought to you!

Ebidramon's palate is said to have ascended beyond human comprehension, and so some of the available foods might not be to everyone's tastes. There's sausage and jellybean pizza and banana and anchovy sliders. There are potato chips and a mysterious "Digital Dip," which the more adventurous among the new arrivals may be able to discover is a delectable blending of marshmallow fluff and caviar. Cookies of all kinds are available as well, ranging from benign chocolate chip to chocolate sandwich cookies with a variety of fun fillings like espresso and buffalo wing. There are asparagus-clam smoothies and a wide selection of the finest sodas and fruit juices available from all across the island. What’s more, some of the strange fruits from Material Jungle have been brought in—the kinds that might leave you turning purple, coughing up polka dots, or making you really energetic all of a sudden.

There's something for everyone, and you can eat as much as you want! This stuff isn't going to keep as leftovers.

[ "They're Throwing What?!" ]

It's the next day. The party has come and gone, and all that's left of it is stuff to be cleaned up. But hey, that's a job for civil servants right? Though they won't say no to anyone offering to help out.

But before any of that can happen, an incident occurs. Coming up from the city's sewers are the likes of Numemon and Geremon. What are those who usually dwell among the muck and the grime coming out of their hole for? Well, they know there was a party last night, and they're angry over not being invited.

(The whole city was invited. The Numemon and Geremon were simply told not to come if they were going to be a nuisance, and they took that to mean not to come at all.)

Putting aside the inequities of Access City vis a vis the filth dwellers, the Numemon and Geremon are intent on trashing Access Park where the party was held and vandalizing as many places of business as they can. Whether that be by throwing their pink "sludge" everywhere, or by trashing the party equipment and furniture, they're intent on raising a lot of really, really dirty hell.

Those caught up in the chaos must either dodge the so-called "goo" they're flinging or work to stop them. Thankfully, Numemon and Geremon aren't too difficult to deal with, despite their being Adult Levels. Tamer Union didn't intend this to be the first challenge Tamers faced in coming to the Digital World, but it seems fate itself had other ideas.

The loud yelling spooked the living lights out of poor Lena while she is in the middle of sipping on a drink (was it the asparagus smoothie, water, or something else?), nearly slipping some of the drink onto the floor. Lunamon is just annoyed by the yelling in return.

"Oh, are you talking to me?" she is currently trying to let the question sink in before trying to reply as normally as possible, "Streamers? I think that they are just fine. They are pretty commonplace in birthday parties in America, especially for kids birthday parties."

"Lena-san, why is that Kyaromon excited about streamers?" Lunamon looks baffled at the excitement in the puffball's eyes as she asks Lena for any answers.

"Birthday parties?!" Kyaromon cannot contain himself. "I wanna birthday party! With streamers! Can you have one if you were just born?" And in a low, hushed voice, "Is this my birthday party?" before immediately responding to the Kyaromon, "Why wouldn't I be excited about streamers?"

Hajime looks somewhat resigned to his fate. "He's...young."

"Normally in my world, little guy, you need to wait for a year before you have your first birthday," Lena replies, though she doesn't know if human logic applies to Digimon in terms of aging.

"Oh dear..." Lunamon couldn't help but to facepalm in dismay, "He is quite a handful for that poor gentleman over there to look after, I feel sorry for him."

Then Lena turns her attention to the man who seems to be stuck with Kyaromon as his partner, "Oh, that explains why he is pretty much hyperactive right now."

Unfortunately, all sorts of logic escape this Kyaromon, such is his excitement level about life in general.

Hajime shrugs at the sympathy the others are giving him. "I think he's just...like this. I don't get the sense that he'll settle down." That's it, this is his life now, isn't it?

"Why would I settle down? There's so much to see!"

"Oh, what a very curious Baby Digimon," Lunamon takes note of it, "It's almost as if he is programmed to behave in this way."

Lena looks at the Kyaromon and tries to talk to him, "So what kinds of things do you really want to see?"

Oh no don't ask him a question, Hajime wants to say, but it is too late.

Kyaromon has been asked a question, and Kyaromon will answer. "I want to see the ocean and the mountains and a big city and a little city and a river and a boat and a submarine and a boat in a river and a car and a park and an expressway and a fjord and a..."

He's just going to keep on like this. There is no stopping him. Hajime's just shaking his head slightly and making no effort to stop it.

"Oh wow, that is a lot of places to go," Lena is quite surprised even by the amount of locations Kyaromon wants to visit, she isn't sure of what the landscapes of the Digital World would look like or if there are cars in there.

"That is plenty of words being spoken too," Lunamon adds in.

"There have been plenty of words spoken since he's found me." Hajime has not figured out how to shut Kyaromon up yet. Will he settle down after the initial excitement has worn off? Will he find something more to chatter on about? Hajime does not know, and he is tired.

"I wanna go to all the places!" Kyaromon seems pleased with his sizeable vocabulary.

"Well, he is as chatty as my grandmother," Lena chimes in as the chatty Digimon is starting to remind her very well of Valia's extroverted personality (maybe minus the ability to know when to stop which she probably had), "They would've gotten along with each other really well."

Lunamon is just very speechless at how much Hajime has to endure Kyaromon's chattiness. Sorry big guy, even this 4-eared rabbit Digimon is just as stumped too.

"Did your grandmother ever stop talking?" Is there some secret he could apply here? He doesn't know. He is trying to be polite and subtle when he asks.

"Is your grandmother here?" Kyaromon asks.

"Sometimes like any other person would do," Lena replies to Hajime's question first, "But usually, she and some of my extended family can be chatty at times. Even my sister is more social than I am."

When Kyaromon did asked her about her grandmother and if she is in Access City, she just simply said, "Um, no. I don't think that she is here right now."

"I'm not very social," Hajime says, "so it's...not something I'm very familiar with. Being chatty."

"Ohhhh," Kyaromon says, "we need more people here, the more the merrier, I say!" He remains oblivious to how his partner would prefer not to.

"Oh my, that would be a lot of people running around in the Digital World," Lunamon observes with worry tinged into her words, "I'm not too sure if we can gather that many people across in the multiverse in one sitting."

"I can relate to the whole not being super social part very well," Lena admits to Hajime, "I am not that likely to strike up a conversation that often unlike my younger sister or any of my friends back home."

"But it would be fun to try!" Kyaromon insists. What are consequences? He's too young to have a concept of those yet.

"I just don't spend much time around people. Never really have." Hajime shakes his head. "It's a bit harder to just blend into the crowd here."

Lena nods in return, this time ignoring Kyaromon for just a moment. After all, there are plenty of people coming in from different worlds and timelines, so it is understandable that not everyone can get along that well.

"Yes, that is also true to me as well," she speaks up again.

"Lena-san, you almost forgot to introduce yourself to these gentlemen," Lunamon alerts her about not properly introducing herself.

"Oops, sorry about it, Lunamon," Lena feels embarrassed about forgetting that last part before she does that, "Anyway, I nearly forgot to introduce myself. My name is Lena Kaligaris: originally from the United States, but my family originally came from Greece."

"I'm Kyaromon!" Kyaromon declares before Hajime can really respond.

Hajime sighs. "I'm Hajime Aikawa. From Japan. I'm a photographer." A photographer without a camera and with a very loud fluffball. Some trade.

"It's nice to meet you all, Hajime-san and Kyaromon," Lunamon greets them with a polite bow.

"So you are a photographer back in Japan?" Lena tries to get what he just said, "I am currently an aspiring artist back at home, but I don't think that I have my art stuff with me right now."

"It's nice to meet you, too!" Kyaromon looks about fit to burst with the excitement of meeting new people.

"That's right. I take pictures." It is far, far easier to talk about being a photographer than a Kamen Rider. Perfectly normal awkward human here, nothing to see. "What sort of art do you do?"

"I have been doing a lot of charcoal work, sketching and oil painting for a few months so far, especially during my family's trip to Santorini," she replies in a polite tone.

"Oh, I would love to see Lena-san getting started with her artwork real soon. I have good faith in her," Lunamon speaks really highly of her, which honestly made her blushing.

If only her dad has the same kind of support Lunamon is showering onto her with her dabbling of the arts instead of being so stuck up with his old fashioned immigrant thinking.

Hajime nods. "I don't know how well this place is suited for such things, but it's worth a try."

"Gotta do art," Kyaromon says sagely. "Make a mess. Artistic mess! Can I play with your paint?"

"Yeah, I might want to check out what this world has available and see where to go from there," she first speaks to Hajime before turning to Kyaromon, "As much as I wish that I did, I don't think that my paints are here with me. If I did, you definitely can."

Probably because she didn't carry her art supplies with her when she tried to find and apologize to Kostas.
